Primed for Failure
I realize that it's cool to work with your friends and have people around that support you, but if you are a chump, you shouldn't get the job. I love that Bush's nepotism is significantly damaging his approval rating. What I don't love is that it is at the expense of human lives and constitutional prudence.
I like the part where Scalzi says,
'Considering that there's probably 33% of Americans who would rather chew on jagged glass than to show disloyalty to a sitting Republican president, a 35% approval rating basically means that no one outside the ranks of the ideologically paralyzed right-wing approves of our president. No one.'
A depressing reality to be sure.

What needs to be emphasized but, so far, is missing is that this is not necessarily a Michael Brown problem but a BUSH problem. It was Bush who appointed Brown to FEMA, it was Bush who said, "Brownie, you're doin' a heckuva job" even as the poor people of New Orleans were fighting for (many losing) their lives. Well, I guess he was right -- it was a "heckuva job." Why, oh why are we (American taxpayers) still paying the man's salary? And yes, it goes for either man.
